Nancy Mallett serves as the Coordinator for Salida Build A Generation as well as the Nurturing Parenting Program Coordiator for families with children 0 - 6. With Build A Generation she works with an advisory board to manage the strategic planning process for Salida, develop and conduct environmental strategies, and engage the community in providing a safe and healthy place for all youth. In addition, she works with the Salida Youth Advisory Council to conduct the NOW YOU KNOW social marketing campaign for Chaffee County youth and families. She also co-teaches one of the Nurturing Parenting Programs in Salida. Before coming to S-BAG she worked for four years as the Chaffee County Tobacco Education Coordinator, during which time Colorado passed the Tobacco Excise tax and the Clean Air Colorado Act.
Ms. Mallett graduated with a degree in education and taught public school for five years. She then served 22 years with the Fire Service as a Public Information and Education Officer, teaching life safety and prevention skills and working with the media. During this period she also taught at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD as an adjunct instructor, and developed a Fire Educator Certification Class which she taught throughout the U.S. and Canada. After her fire service career, Mallett worked as the Director of the Adventure Travel Trade Association where she presented workshops and classes in such diverse locales as the Bahamas, British Columbia, Chile, Honduras, Quebec, and Tasmania.
